This year’s collection of paintings features fourteen plants from the Singapore Botanic Gardens, brought to life by six local artists from the Botanical Art Society (Singapore), under the guidance of Japanese artist Masumi Yamanaka. Created to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Singapore Botanic Gardens Library, these botanical illustrations appear both in this calendar and in a special issue of Curtis’s Botanical Magazine—the world’s longest-running botanical journal, a complete set of which is held in the Gardens’ Library. The original paintings will be on display throughout 2026 at the Botanical Art Gallery in the Gallop Extension as part of the exhibition “Roots of Knowledge: 150 Years of the Singapore Botanic Gardens Library”.
Each plant has been carefully selected to represent different areas of the Gardens, from heritage spaces like the Dell to newer additions such as the Hoya House. Together, they showcase the Gardens’ ongoing role in botanical documentation, artistic excellence, and plant conservation.
