The first three volumes, published in 2019, covered the introductory chapters, the grasses, sedges and their relatives, and the coffee and frangipani families and their relatives. By the time the work is complete, more than 3,150 species will have been documented across 14 volumes. It is a truly global effort: botanists in Singapore and around the world prepare the scientific accounts, while artists and photographers work alongside them to illustrate and photograph the plants being described.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePublished in 2026, Volume 4 covers the gymnosperms (cone-bearing plants) together with several of the oldest evolutionary lineages of flowering plants: Nymphaeales, Austrobaileyales, Piperales, Magnoliales, Laurales and Chloranthales. Botanical illustration is woven throughout the Flora of Singapore, not only within the scientific treatments but also on every volume's cover, which feature watercolours by Waiwai Hove.
